Mr. Child was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Olympus High School where he played soccer and was involved in the V.I.C.A. Club. He married Lynnette Sims and they have two children. Mr. Child has four grand-daughters and one grandson. Mr. Child has completed 16 marathons. Mr. Child likes to read and work with computers. Mr. Child has taught at Cyprus for twenty-one years. For 17 years Mr. Child taught all of the technology classes and for the last four years Mr. Child has been the Library Media Specialist. Prior to teaching Mr. Child owned his own general contracting company. Mr. Child has BS and MS from BYU and another MS from the University of Utah.
